Course description

The In-Person Essential Speaking Training Program is a 12-week coaching program with Doreen Downing, Ph.D.

The program includes 12 in-person office visits with Doreen, the Signature 7-Step Essential Speaking Course, Instructional videos, exercises, assignments, practice, and ongoing email support.

We meet together in my Berkeley or Marin office for 50-minute weekly sessions.

The goal is to build deep self-confidence so that you can speak from the calm, clear, powerful Essence of who you are.

Based on my experience dissolving my own stage fright, my expertise as a psychologist and mindfulness teacher, and my years as Training Director of Speaking Circles® International, I have discovered that being present and connected to your "Essential Self" is the key to relaxed and confident speaking.

Now I offer workshops, private sessions, E-Courses, leadership training seminars, and consultations for business groups. My innovative approach is based on connecting to and speaking from your authentic self rather than focusing on performance techniques.

Presence

by Dale Scoggin
During this lesson, I really made progress on overcoming an obstacle from my past that would increase my stress and anxiety about public speaking. I know there are other similar incidents that I will need to tackle, but one of the first steps is BEING PRESENT in the here and now. Not returning back to that experience every time I have to speak publicly...Or if I do start going there, I now have some tools to redirect my brain to overcome the negative aspects of that incident, and start also looking at the positive aspects of that scenario.
